Just when I needed it, when I was feeling that preparing healthy food and eating right was just not enjoyable, I stumbled upon French Women Don’t Get Fat.
I truly want to take great pleasure in creating a healthy life for my family. I do not want it to be a burden. Yes, sometimes I will not take pleasure in it, and other times, I will make poor choices, but I see the journey helping me discern the good from the bad. I am learning to listen to what my body really wants to eat in order to thrive, eating less of what is just plain bad for it, and more of the whole, God given, nourishing food.  It has been a great blessing to me as I have taken the time to slow down and savour my food, putting my fork down between bites, eating at the table, and listening to my stomach.
I’ve discovered that I need this slowing down to truly hear what my body is saying, and to stay in balance. When I rush through my day, and forget to take this time, usually my food choices run on the poor side.
I also love the idea of indulging in things that I truly love, and learning to discern the real indulgences, instead of the imitation fillers. Quality is becoming more and more important to me.
I encourge anyone to slow down as they eat. Sit down. Put your fork down. Eat with your family, and talk. Listen to your body as you eat. It is amazing what it tells you.

Erin it is so true…
I think one of the health hazards at the moment is really the fact that people eat on the go, in the car, in front of telly, in front of computer etc..
You start to stop listening to your body.
I used to have my midmorning snack while I email …
I don´t any more- I just seem to eat too many nuts… and do not pay attention that I´m full.
So even when I´m home alone I eat at the table …

You have inspired me today Erin. It is one component of the whole eating process that I completely skip. I will spend time seeking the most nutrient dense foods I can find, and then literally ‘inhale’ them at a rapid pace, hardly tasting them.
You have inspired me to make more of an effort to slow down. I am going to start with tonights dinner and see where we go from there.
